Titan bearings have helped Nucor Steel Crawfordsville produce over a longer cycle than previously possible. The previous bearings seemed to never make a 6mo PM Cycle. Teardown and inspection of the Titan Bearings signal the Mill could push to a 1yr PM cycle. Titan Bearings have given the scheduling of down-days back to the Steel Mill.

MRSI is a proven problem solver and technology provider for the steel industry. While formerly working as the head of maintenance in the steel industry MRSI on several occasions demonstrated its capabilities of service and supplies from small to large projects.

For large parts they provided to me service and technical support on an EAF Gantry bearing change out. They sent technical experts to assist with the project and provided a complete inspection of the replacement slewing ring bearing when it was removed from 14 years of long term storage. MRSI also over saw the installation of the replacement bearing to assure it was correctly installed.

In the area of part service MRSI provided expedited service for an emergency turnaround of an improperly machined Ladle lid jib crane slewing ring bearing. During a preventive service of the bearing the warehouse spare was found to have an area that was machined incorrectly when it was ordered as a capital spare. The bearing was sent to the MRSI shop for service. MRSI disassembled the bearing, machined the area needed, installed new seals and packed the rollers with the exact grease that was going to be used when it was in service. After this was completed, the bearing that was taken out of service was also inspected, polished, and refitted as the new spare.

MRSI also supplies its own bearing solution TITAN BEARINGS. On a smaller project of rebuilding a set of EAF mast roller bearing MRSI provided a new design using TITAN BEARINGS instead of conventional roller bearings. This design would eliminate the failure issues of failed rollers from excessive contamination related to the EAF environment. The bushing style steel bearing is constantly cleaning as the old grease is being replaced with the new.
